Strategic Design for Shared Future Visioning: From IT Outsourcer to Business Outcome-Driven Partner

Abstract
As digitalization transforms industries, IT is shifting from a support function to a critical enabler of business performance. This changes what customers demand from their IT outsourcing partners. At the same time, IT outsourcers face increasing commoditization and seek to move toward higher-margin, strategic roles where they directly contribute to the customer's future business outcomes. Central to this transition is aligning on a shared long-term direction: a 'shared future vision', that can be translated into IT capabilities and initiatives that realize the customer's ambitions. This thesis explores how IT outsourcers can effectively co-create shared future visions with their B2B customers. Combining a literature review with empirical research at Schuberg Philis, the study synthesizes twelve key factors for effective future visioning across three themes: preconditions, approach, and output. This informed the development of the GIGA (Guided Information Gap & Action) Tool, a structured framework enabling employees to systematically prepare for and conduct future visioning workshops with customers. Validation through a real-world customer case showed the concept enables systematic analysis of customer documents, identification of information gaps, and thorough preparation, resulting in more effective workshops.

Abstract
This thesis examines the growing importance of loyal B2B relationships between an IT outsourcer and its customers. The research investigates how loyal B2B relationships between SBP and their customers are established and sustained to facilitate a transition towards business outcome-driven partnerships. Key findings include a detailed context-driven B2B value framework, the correlation between B2B values, events, and interactions that guide the establishment of loyal relationships, and how a shared future vision enables the transition to business outcome-driven partnerships.

The threat of cyber attacks is greater than ever and will most likely only grow in the future. This research aims to understand how cyber attacks can cause environmental incidents in the liquid bulk industry in the Rotterdam maritime area. Results can be generalised to other industry 4.0 operations. The research finds that cyber attacks on the liquid bulk industry are very hard to pull off, requiring deep knowledge and expertise.

Abstract
This study focuses on mission-critical IT as within mission-critical IT, time is often of the essence, and there is limited room for failure. Two case studies were conducted within Schuberg Philis for customer teams that operate in the finance industry and postal service industry. Results show that in most cases, mission-critical workarounds relate to the administrative part of the process or the approval mechanisms. The majority of workarounds have a positive impact on time, costs and flexibility of the process.
